The progress and achievement of one hundred years, since the second war of independence, or, the war of 1812..
Historical sketch of the second war between the United States of America, and Great Britain: Declared by act of Congress, the 18th of June, 1812, and ... 1815. By Charles J. Ingersoll (Volume 2)
Beginning in November 1813, a series of encounters with the Red Sticks culminated in the battle of Horseshoe Bend on March 27, 1814. This battle left over 800 Creeks dead and ended the threat of a Creek invasion. Throughout the Creek War, the Indians were out-manned, inadequately armed, and lacking in military discipline. In fact, Jackson's greatest threat came not from the Creeks, but from supply shortages and desertions by troops dissatisfied with their enlistment terms , e.g. The Lively Lady and Captain Caution http://rocketrealm.com/?library/the-lively-lady-and-captain-caution. The right was commanded by Captain Jenkins of the Glengarry Light Infantry Fencibles and was composed of his own flank company and about 70 militia. Captain Jenkins gallantly led on his column, exposed to a heavy fire of seven guns which he bravely attempted to take with the bayonet, though covered with 200 of the enemy's best troops , source: Gaag: Webster's Timeline History, 1812 - 2007 http://theinsurancebrand.com/books/gaag-websters-timeline-history-1812-2007.
